This is a second career for me. For many years, I worked in Silicon Valley’s private and public sector as an IT Professional. Upon graduation from SJSU, I served the City of San Jose as a counseling associate at a local community center that provided recreation opportunities for persons with mental health and other cognitive disabilities. While an associate clinician, I was on the support staff of a local public school system serving the mental health needs for K-5 and High School students. Most recently, I worked as a licensed clinician for a local non-profit providing mental health services for children, K-8, for a public school system in the South Bay Area.
I created Michael Ridgway Counseling Services to be a safe space for clients—whether they’re struggling to define their identity, unsure about their career goals and direction in life, going through relationship issues, or being held back by debilitating problems with their mental health.
I am married, an ordained minister and the father of one adult son. I love to travel, hike, run, garden, read good books and hang out with family and friends. I also love to tinker with old tech, be it my classic automobile or vintage Macintosh computers in various stages of restoration.
